Pre-K Prep

First I want to thank everyone for your kind words about our baby girl! We are very excited about this crazy and pink adventure that is ahead of us. We also appreciate your kind words regarding my updates. They have been fun and I'm so glad I started doing this (:

Elliana has been going to a preschool part-time since she was a year old. It was something Lucas and I wanted for her to get some socialization and learn new things as well. We have been so happy where she goes, and we can tell she loves it too! They do so much with the kids with dress up days, themed days, and just getting on their level and teaching. It's been wonderful and Elliana has learned so much there. But as most of our family and friends know we are planning on homeschooling our children in the future. It was a decision that Lucas wanted more than me at first (which seems crazy because I was home schooled), but after many discussions and praying we feel that this is something God wants for our family. I have been doing research about it for the last 2 years and it has definitely changed since my home school days. There are so many options now! So with all that said we are considering this being Elliana's last year at preschool and start prepping for the future. This is something that has been surprisingly hard for me because I do absolutely love her school and teachers, but I think about Elliana being so young, and even though we are planning on her doing school at home this an age that we will never get back, and I want to soak it up as much as possible.
We are still praying for guidance with this. Next fall will be a big change in our family with the new baby, so we want to make sure this is God's doing and not ours.

Since this is an option for our family, I decided to start looking into things that I can do with Elliana at home if she will be here more. First thing I found was a Pre-K co-op that starts at age 3. I'm in the process of getting more information about it since I've never been to co-op, but I know the sweet ladies who are directors of one near by and that says enough for me. A few other things I have been looking into are my resources. I was a preschool teacher full-time before I had Elliana so I am going back looking at the activities I did with the kids that could work with Elliana.

While I was at heaven Target the other day going by the dollar bins, I found these neat and fun workbooks for $1! It's mostly very simple tracing, and something Elliana can start in the fall, maybe even now but we need to practice holding a pencil first. ;) I also love it because it comes with stickers that you can put on the pages once the worksheet is complete, and Elliana loves stickers!

To start prepping for handwriting these activity sheets are wonderful! I've seen kids progress with these and it's amazing how something so simple and fun can truly help them with handwriting, and also hand eye coordination. These color sheets are also something that will be fun and simple for her since she loves, loves, loves to color.

As much as I love worksheets, I believe kids learn more from playing. Just this morning while playing with her alphabet blocks we were working on color sorting. It's simple things like that that really engages Elliana and keeps her busy and focused. My best friend to help with activities like this to keep her from getting bored? PINTEREST. You can follow my Preschool Board for lots of different ideas and activities for your little one to do at home. A couple of my favorite is this Alphabet Squish and this really easy and fun color sorting game.

Well there you have it! A little bit of something that's been on my heart and to help any parents out there who may have had the same thoughts. Also, if any of you have more resources and ideas feel free to comment and share them below, I love new things!

4 Months

I decided to switch over to doing monthly updates instead of weekly. To be honest not much changes in a week or 2 with this pregnancy, and while we are working on getting back to a regular routine, this will be easier. So here we are at 3 months!

How far along: 16 weeks
Gender: Sweet baby girl!!!
Weight gain: I gained 2 lbs, lost 1 lb at last appointment.
Maternity clothes: Living in leggings and yoga pants. I can still wear my shirts but I can't tell you the last time I wore a pair of jeans.
Stretch marks: None
Belly button in or out: In
Emotions: The same as usual, until I went through Elliana's baby's clothes....
Sleep: Is pretty good at night, there are times where I still feel like I can't get enough of it though.
Best moment this week: Bought the crib and went through Elliana's old baby clothes (Note: this can also go in Worst moment category due to me crying and missing Elliana that small...)
Worst moment this week: The worst moment for me was craving something so bad and not being able to get it...
Miss anything: Not feeling like I wear the same thing all the time.
Movement: Starting to feel the flutters, I swear last night she was working on her gymnastic moves. I could feel a flip, after flip.
Cravings: My biggest craving right now is shrimp. Particularly boiled cajun shrimp from this cajun restaurant near where I grew up.
Queasy or sick: Finally getting to where there's not much nausea, as long as I take medicine at bedtime I feel great in the mornings.
Looking forward to: Decorating the girls' room!

Also, I wanted to share with you all that we have picked out a name, and I have to share with you how it happened... We've been discussing baby names for a while, one name that I loved was Eva. It was my great Aunt's name and the meaning of is "Life", so I felt like it was perfect for our girl, except one thing... getting my husband on board. When we first started discussing baby names we couldn't agree on one, so I didn't know how he would like Eva Joy (always loved Joy as a middle name). Luckily when I brought it up he liked it and we agreed that would be the name yay! Well a few days ago while I was talking to Elliana about baby sister in my belly and that her name would be Eva, she says out of nowhere "No not Eva mommy, Evie" and I was stunned. I told Lucas when he got home and we were both like yes that is it! So with Elliana's help her little sister's name will be Evie Joy and we couldn't love it more. (:

BABY #2 IS A....

I apologize for my absence. Things have been crazy with holidays, going out of town, buying and working on a house, and just life in general. I hate that I haven't had the time to stay on top of my blog as much as I would like, especially with the pregnancy and me wanting to journal it. But once we settle in our new home next week things will get back to normal!

Now on to some wonderful news!

Baby Roberts stretching it out!

Today I went to the ultrasound tech and saw our little sweet pea, and after some moving and rolling it finally revealed that.....

Yep! We will be having another princess in our family and we couldn't be more thrilled!! Some of you know that I have been saying "BOY" since day 1. But that was mainly because this pregnancy has been so different than the last, from sickness to cravings, and even my energy level, nothing has been the same. Then Monday at my doctor's appointment the nurse told me the heart rate was 160, and I started second guessing haha.

Elliana has also said boy since day 1...actually "boy like daddy" to be exact. So she didn't believe us when we told her she was having a sister...after a lot of repeating she finally got it and she's excited about having a little sister! (:

As far as any other changes in the pregnancy, there's not any except the belly ;)

I will to do an update soon, but I've had so many sweet friends and family members anxiously waiting to know about baby girl I wanted to go ahead and share the news!
